Troop 1294 is a traditional Boy Scout troop offering a variety of outdoor experiences each year. From a weekend of basic camping, to a day of rock climbing, to a week at summer camp, we operate a full-year program. The adult and junior leaders are committed to providing the very best Scouting Program possible. Expectations are the same for everyone, youth and adult; to do their best and conduct themselves according to the Scout Oath and Scout Law. We are a youth-run troop. While adult leadership is always provided, the youth run the program. Junior Leaders are democratically elected by the youth of the troop. The annual program is developed by the youth at a planning session. Patrol Leaders solicit ideas from their patrols and then the Patrol Leaders' Council meets to decide at an annual planning session what they want to do for the next year. The planning session is generally held in June. We have outdoor activities every month. While the youth don't realize it (and please don't tell them), activities are simply a means to an end. Boy Scout programs seek to instill in the young men the self-expectation of high standards and good values. The outdoor program provides youth with a practical means to challenge them to achieve. Please encourage your son to participate in outdoor activities! His success depends on it! Troop 1294 c/o |
